Jake Essig Appointed Huntington University Student Ambassador

2012 Sep 20

Jake Essig of Monroe, OH, was named a Huntington University student ambassador this fall.

These Front Line Foresters will serve by hosting Foundation Breakfasts, participating in Prayer Ministry luncheons, hosting Homecoming & Family Weekend events, welcoming the Board of Trustees to meetings, and showing appreciation to donors with thank you calls and letters.

The goal is to have these Front Line Foresters grow in character through interactions with various professionals as they fulfill their duties as student ambassadors. They will develop leadership skills, gratitude and interpersonal skills as well as gain a basic knowledge of philanthropy and the workings of the Advancement Office at HU.

"Since beginning my role in advancement more than a year ago, I've had a strong desire to engage with and involve students in a more significant way in donor relations," said Vince Haupert, vice president for advancement. "We asked our esteemed faculty to recommend students to us that are spiritually grounded, academically successful and display a professional demeanor. We certainly didn't lack for qualified students."

Essig is a junior Recreation Management major at HU.
